Five years ago, if you asked someone how car thieves steal modern vehicles, most people would describe a screwdriver through the door and hot-wired ignition. That method is effectively obsolete. What replaced it is in many ways more alarming — because it's silent, invisible, and undetectable until the vehicle is already gone.
Modern vehicles with keyless entry use radio frequency signals to communicate between the key fob and the car. A relay attack uses two devices — one person stands near your front door, the other stands near your car. Device one captures and amplifies the signal from your key fob inside your house. Device two broadcasts that amplified signal. Your car thinks the key is right next to it. It unlocks. The thief gets in, presses start, and drives away.
The entire process takes under 60 seconds. No forced entry. No alarms triggered. No damage to the vehicle.
Standard alarms do not prevent this. Trackers do not prevent this. The key to stopping relay theft is making the vehicle impossible to start.
The Autowatch Ghost is a CAN bus immobiliser — a device that integrates directly into your vehicle's electronic data network and prevents the engine from starting until a unique PIN code is entered.
It uses your existing buttons. The PIN is entered using buttons that are already on your vehicle — steering wheel controls, window switches, door controls. There is no additional device, no key fob, no separate button.
It is invisible. The Ghost is hidden within the vehicle's wiring loom. There is no visible LED, no visible unit, no aerial.
It stops the engine from starting. Until the correct PIN sequence is entered, the engine will not start. Full stop.
It has a service mode. When the vehicle needs to go to a garage or car wash, the Ghost can be temporarily deactivated.
