HGV Remapping — Truck ECU Tuning & Commercial Fleet Solutions
Fleet pricing available. Lifetime warranty on every remap.
HGV fuel is your biggest variable operating cost. A modern truck covering 80,000 miles a year burns through diesel at a rate that makes every fraction of a mile per gallon significant. A professionally developed HGV remap, oriented toward fuel efficiency, typically delivers 10–18% improvements in real-world consumption. On a single truck running high mileage, that is £3,000–6,000 per year in saved fuel — for a one-time cost of £400–600. The maths are compelling.
Why HGV Engines Are Remapped
HGV engines are manufactured to be sold in multiple power tiers across different operator specifications. A DAF XF 480 and a DAF XF 530 may share the same engine block — the difference is in the ECU calibration. This is standard practice across all major truck manufacturers.
Additionally, manufacturers tune HGV engines with heavy conservatism for warranty and reliability reasons across global markets with varying fuel quality and maintenance standards. A UK operator running a modern, well-maintained truck on quality diesel and a proper service schedule is operating in far better conditions than the global minimum the factory calibration was designed for.
An HGV remap recalibrates the engine software for your specific vehicle's condition and operational profile — whether the priority is maximum fuel economy, improved performance, or a balance of both.

HGV Remap Benefits — Where the Money Is
Fuel Economy — The Primary Return on Investment
- 10–18% improvement in fuel consumption under normal operational conditions
- Improved MPG at typical motorway cruise speeds (50–56mph)
- Better fuel efficiency under load — uphill pulling with a full trailer
- Reduced idle fuel consumption through improved calibration
Single Truck — 80,000 miles/year
Current: 8.5 mpg → Post-remap: 9.5–10.0 mpg
Annual saving: £2,500–4,500
Remap cost: £500 · Break-even: 4–8 weeks
Fleet of 10 Trucks
Annual saving: £25,000–45,000
Fleet remap cost: from £4,000 · Break-even: under 2 months
Performance vs Economy — Choosing Your Calibration
Economy-Focused Remap (most popular)
For operators where fuel cost is the primary concern. The calibration optimises for thermal efficiency and cruise economy. More torque at lower RPM means less throttle input at motorway speeds. Typical result: 10–18% fuel saving.
Balanced Remap
Improves both fuel economy and outright performance. More power and torque with improved efficiency at cruise. Popular with owner-drivers who want genuine performance improvements alongside fuel savings.
Performance-Focused Remap
For operators who need maximum pulling power — heavy haulage, tipper work, specialist transport. Prioritises torque across the working range. Fuel economy improvement is secondary but still present.
"Tell us your operational profile — routes, loads, typical speeds — and we'll develop the right calibration for your specific use case."
HGV DPF, AdBlue & EGR Solutions
HGV exhaust aftertreatment problems are disproportionately expensive. A replacement DPF on a DAF XF or Volvo FH can cost £2,000–5,000+. An SCR/AdBlue system replacement on a modern Euro 6 truck can exceed £3,000.
HGV DPF Solutions
Off-truck cleaning from £200. On-truck cleaning from £250. Full diagnostic assessment before any cleaning.
HGV AdBlue/SCR Solutions
We diagnose and resolve HGV AdBlue system faults across all major manufacturers. Emergency callout service available. Call immediately if you have an active countdown warning.
HGV EGR Solutions
EGR carbon build-up is common on high-mileage HGV engines. Regular EGR maintenance can prevent larger faults developing.
Mobile HGV Service
For trucks that cannot practically come to our Barlborough Links workshop, we operate a mobile service. Our equipment is fully portable and capable of carrying out HGV remapping, diagnostics and fault resolution at your depot, yard or roadside.
- Available across Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire
- Coverage up to 50 miles from Barlborough Links (£1/mile each way)
- Extended coverage available — call to discuss
- Depot visits welcome — multiple vehicles in a single visit
- Roadside/breakdown diagnostic support — call to confirm availability
Fleet & Haulage Account Terms
Fleet Pricing
Discounted rates on remapping for 3+ vehicles booked together. The more vehicles, the better the rate.
Account Terms
Monthly invoicing available for established fleet customers with regular volume.
Scheduled Maintenance
Coordinate your fleet remapping with your scheduled service intervals to minimise disruption.
Trade / Owner-Driver
Owner-drivers and small fleet operators (1–5 vehicles) welcome. No minimum volume required.
Compliance & Legality
HGV operators are understandably cautious about any modification that could affect vehicle compliance or operator licence status.
Speed Limiters
We do not remove or adjust HGV speed limiters. They are a legal requirement and cannot be tampered with.
Emissions Compliance
Our standard HGV remapping does not remove or disable any emissions control systems. DPF, AdBlue/SCR and EGR systems remain in place and functional.
Operator Licence
A performance or economy remap on an HGV does not typically affect operator licence compliance. We recommend operators disclose modifications to insurers as appropriate.
"If you have specific compliance concerns about your fleet, call us. We're happy to discuss your situation honestly before you commit to any work."
