“Stage 1 remap on my Transit Custom Sport. Loads more torque at lower speeds and pulls well in every gear. Highly recommend.”
Most people searching for an ECU remap in Chesterfield end up at a national chain or a one-man operation with no credentials to their name. Concept-R Performance is different — we're based here, at Barlborough Links just east of town, and we hold the MET Remapping Company of the Year 2025 award, IMI Level 3 qualifications across our technical team, RAC Approved status, and Motor Ombudsman accreditation. You won't find that combination anywhere else in Chesterfield — or in most of the county.
Chesterfield is a working town. Its identity is rooted in industry, commerce and the no-nonsense character of North Derbyshire — a place where people work with their hands, build things, fix things, and value results over flash promises. The crooked spire might be the landmark visitors remember, but what defines daily Chesterfield life is the steady rhythm of trades, construction and commerce. Markham Vale Business Park on the A617 is one of the region's major industrial zones. Barlborough Links — where we're based — is another. Staveley Works. The Dunston Road industrial area. The commercial estates off Sheffield Road. Chesterfield's working economy runs through these places, and it runs on diesel vans.
We see this every day. The Chesterfield customer base that comes through our door is predominantly tradespeople and self-employed professionals — builders from Brampton and Whittington, plumbers from Walton and Hasland, electricians from Brimington and Barrow Hill, joiners from Newbold and Old Whittington. They drive Transit Customs, VW Transporters, Mercedes Vitos, Renault Trafics. They're out before seven, back after five, carrying full loads across North Derbyshire's varied terrain every day. For these customers, a remap isn't a performance indulgence — it's a working tool. More torque under load. Better fuel economy across the miles. Less throttle required to pull a full van up the long climb on the A619 out of town.
Chesterfield also has a growing community of car enthusiasts — particularly in the more affluent areas around Walton, Calow, Old Road and out toward the Derbyshire villages. These customers are looking for something different: the same quality-first approach, but for performance rather than economy. We deliver both.
We could describe our typical Chesterfield customer in detail because we've met them hundreds of times. He runs a small building or plumbing business out of a Chesterfield industrial unit or from home. He drives a Transit Custom — probably a 2.0 EcoBlue — and it's loaded every single working day. He's heard from someone on site that a remap makes a real difference. He's looked us up, seen the reviews, and made a decision based on the fact that we're five minutes up the road, we have 240+ five-star reviews, and we offer a money-back guarantee. He drops the van off, has a coffee, and drives away forty minutes later saying — and this is almost verbatim from dozens of conversations — "That's how it should have left the factory."
That's Chesterfield in a sentence. Practical, straight-talking, results-oriented. Exactly who we are.

Our workshop is at Unit 4, Networkcentre, Barlborough Links, S43 4WW. From Chesterfield town centre, take the A619 east past Staveley. Barlborough Links is on the right, approximately 3.5 miles past Staveley town centre. The drive from the crooked spire to our door is under 12 minutes on a normal day.
From the south of Chesterfield (Walton, Calow, Hasland): take the A617 east to Markham Vale, then follow signs north to Barlborough Links.
From the north (Brimington, Whittington, Old Whittington): straight down the A619 east — we're directly on your route.
From junction 30 of the M1: turn off onto the A619 toward Chesterfield and we're 600 metres from the roundabout on the left. The easiest approach of all.
Free parking on site. HGVs and vans with trailers welcome — just call ahead.
In order of booking frequency from Chesterfield postcodes:
**1. Ford Transit Custom Stage 1 / SID212 Remap** The single most booked service from S40, S41, S42 and S43. Chesterfield's tradesperson population drives more Transit Customs per head than almost anywhere in Derbyshire. Many of the SID212 bookings come from customers who've been quoted 3–5 day turnarounds elsewhere and are genuinely surprised when we tell them same-day.
**2. Stage 1 ECU Remap (diesel cars and other vans)** BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and A6, VW Golf TDI, Ford Focus — the standard daily drivers of Chesterfield's professional class. Consistent demand year-round.
**3. Autowatch Ghost Immobiliser** Vehicle theft is a growing concern across the Chesterfield area — particularly van theft targeting tradespeople overnight. The Ghost is increasingly standard equipment for any van owner who understands keyless relay theft. We see Chesterfield vans for Ghost installations year-round.
**4. DPF Cleaning** High-mileage Chesterfield vans doing a lot of short-journey local work accumulate DPF blockages faster than average. We clean DPFs from across the Chesterfield district on a weekly basis.
**5. AdBlue Solutions** The AdBlue countdown warning is a particular problem for Transit Custom owners. We resolve these same-day at our Barlborough workshop.

“I was sceptical but the difference is immediately obvious. That's genuinely how it should feel from the factory. Bradley explained everything before and after.”
