ECU Remap Mansfield — The Ashfield District's Route to Award-Winning Remapping

The Ashfield District has a high rate of van ownership per head. Tradespeople working across Mansfield, Kirkby and Sutton cover significant local mileage between residential jobs, and many travel up the A38 toward Chesterfield and Sheffield for commercial work. The van is the business — and anything that makes it cheaper to run, more powerful to drive, or more secure to own is a genuine working benefit.

DPF problems are disproportionately common in Mansfield-area vans. The reason is straightforward: tradespeople doing short local jobs — hopping between residential properties in Forest Town, Rainworth and Berry Hill — never give their DPF the sustained motorway run it needs to regenerate properly. Kirkby-in-Ashfield's industrial estates and Sutton's commercial zones generate significant LCV traffic. The B&Q Distribution Centre in Hucknall, the warehousing estates along the A611 and A38, and the retail and service trades across Ashfield all contribute to a substantial working vehicle population.

Stage 1 remapping is the primary service from these areas — almost always on diesel vans, often following a recommendation from another driver in the same trade. North of Mansfield, Sherwood Forest and the rural villages of Edwinstowe, Ollerton and Boughton represent a very different demographic. From Mansfield town centre: take the A38 north toward Chesterfield. This road takes you directly through Sutton, Kirkby and toward the M1 interchange. At Junction 28, join the M1 northbound and exit at Junction 30. A619 east to Barlborough Links. Journey: 32–38 minutes.

Alternative: A617 west from Mansfield to Chesterfield then A619 east. Journey: similar time, more A-road.

From Hucknall or Kirkby-in-Ashfield: A611 northwest to the M1 at Junction 27, then northbound to Junction 30. Journey: 30–35 minutes.

From Ollerton or Edwinstowe: A614 north then A6075 to Worksop and A57 west, or A614/A60 toward Mansfield then A38/M1 route. Journey: 45–50 minutes.
